Saying goodbye to one of our own....

As some of you may have heard, Jason "Gremlin" Leighton passed away this past weekend. Memorial details were posted to LJ earlier this evening; for those of you who don't read J9's journal, here they are.

Per family wishes, memorial services for Jason are scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, July 27, 2005, 6:30 PM
Westside Church of Christ
603 Monte Diablo Avenue
San Mateo, CA 94401

I know it's the middle of the week but these are the family's plans. They have other commitments that could not be moved. It's unfortunate but I know we'll do our best to make it there.

As for me, I'd suggest we still get our together on Saturday the 30th to send Jason to the next life in our own inimitable fashion. He'd like a big gathering in his honour, I'm sure. :-)

Please pass the word around and those of you who have digits can call me, Adrian Toler, Manny Duque, Alexis Feldman or Amanda Jones if you need information. You can e-mail me if you need numbers.

    Changes afoot:

    Here's the scoop:

It appears we're caught between competing interests regarding Jason's memorial service. The brother wants it ASAP, the sister wants it on the 30th.

The brother was the one who gave us the date for Wednesday. The sister says to hold everything until she comes back to town on Monday.

To cut a long story short, hold everything. When the sister returns on Monday they will have everything straightened out.

I'm sorry to have to be the messenger on this. I took this on willingly so I accept your frustration and I apologise for the conflicting information.

The plan for the 30th is still to get together in San Mateo Central Park; currently, this is set for 2pm so, as J9 put it, "those of you who are coming from a long distance can be to san mateo at a decent time and dont have to get up at the azz craque of dawn." J9's also working on a memorial tree-planting, but I don't have details on that currently.
